261 Women’s Marathon and 10K to take place on 8 March 2015 in Palma de Mallorca

2nd Edition of event inspired and backed by Kathrine Switzer calls women globally to challenge themselves on International Women’s Day

The Palma de Mallorca tourist board has announced the second annual 261 Women’s Marathon and 10K, the only women’s marathon in Europe, will take place in the city on 8 March 2015, International Women’s Day. Registration for both races is now open.

This is the second edition of this pioneering 26.2 mile road race, which is designed to encourage women to take on the marathon distance, and sees participants tackling a scenic waterfront course through the streets of the Mallorcan capital.

Starting and ending at the Parc de la Mar by Palma’s iconic cathedral, the course is fast and flat combining loops and turns throughout. Last year’s inaugural event saw 700 women descend on the city of Palma to take part and around 3,500 participants are expected for the 2015 edition.
