Celebrating International Women’s Day, Women’s Running UK

To mark International Women’s Day, WR Editor-in-Chief Christina Macdonald reflects on the amazing women who have inspired her to achieve her own goals in life

Today is International Women’s Day, so my thoughts are turning to female role models I’ve admired over the years, as well as been inspired by. Some are athletes and celebrities while others are just amazing role models who champion not only women’s rights but our ability to strive and succeed….I’m permanently impressed by Kathrine Switzer, who was one of several women who conquered the misguided belief that women weren’t physically capable of complething marathons by running Boston in the late 1960s. Kathrine is busy setting up her own marathon in Spain, called 261 Marathon, and remains as proactive and energetic about her commitment to running as she did over 40 years ago.
