Prior to the Women’s Running 10K race in Liverpool on 17 July, I was particularly nervous – I hardly slept the night before. Yes, I was aiming for a PB, but the focus of my nerves was that the coach wouldn’t turn up! Getting yourself to a race on time is stressful enough but the responsibility of making sure 30 others are on the start line too felt a little overwhelming!
My running club, 261 Fearless Wray, had such a great time last year and wanted to return. This year however, was different. We were bringing 16 runners from 261 Club Austria with us. Both clubs belong to the new global network of running clubs set up by running legend Kathrine Switzer as part of her 261 Fearless movement (261fearless.org) which works to connect and empower women through running.
