In Defense of the Word “Jogger”

The term gets a bad rap in the running community—but we should be using it more.

I also associate jogging with the running boom of the 1970s. You know, the movement that made running cool. Millions of Americans watched Frank Shorter win gold in the marathon at the 1972 Munich Olympics and saw Kathrine Switzer help pave the way for women to run in the Boston Marathon.
