Kathrine will be receiving a 2013 Giant Steps award during National Student-Athlete Day. Kathrine is one of seven award winners and was selected for the “Barrier Breaker” award by the student members of the National Consortium for Academics and Sports andNortheastern University’s Sport in Society and is currently

Kathrine Switzer has long been one of running’s most iconic figures. Not just for breaking barriers as the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon in 1967, but also for creating positive global social change. Because of her millions of women are now empowered by the simple act of running.
